Candy Cane Pancakes



Indulge in the holiday spirit with these delightful Candy Cane Pancakes. They're fluffy, slightly sweet, and infused with the festive flavor of crushed candy canes. Perfect for a Christmas morning breakfast!

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup crushed candy canes
  • Red food coloring optional
  • Whipped cream for topping
  • Additional crushed candy canes for garnish

Instructions:

Mix the sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a bowl with a whisk

Mix the egg, melted butter, vanilla extract, and buttermilk in a different bowl

Add the wet ingredients to the dry ones and mix them together just until they are mixed

Do not mix too much

If you want the batter to be a festive pink color, you can add a few drops of red food coloring

Crush the candy canes and slowly fold them into the batter

Melt butter or cooking spray on a griddle or nonstick skillet over medium heat to make it hot

For each pancake, pour 1/4 cup of batter onto the griddle

Start cooking when the top starts to bubble

Then turn it over and cook until both sides are golden brown

Add whipped cream on top of the Candy Cane Pancakes and decorate with more crushed candy canes
